This is my secondary blog and is designed as an archive of my handmade creations, past and present. I also add dates of fairs I'm attending, where I offer for sale my handmade pieces and also carefully sourced vintage goods. I hope you will enjoy taking a look, Niki x

Fairy Magic

As I mentioned in my previous post - I've been re-purposing some of the small antique bottles in my shop.
I made a pretty group of 'fairy dust' bottles - The dust actually being mica glitter - No fairies were harmed in the collecting of their dust!
Each bottle was trimmed at the neck with a jingle bell and I made stoppers from rolled-up sheet music.
I have some others that I am yet to photograph, which are smaller still and trimmed with a tiny red toadstool.

I have these displayed at my shop at the moment, but as I've just started work on a special collection of Christmas fairy dolls to take with me to the Vintage Bazaar, Frome in October, I think it will be nice if some of the bottles accompany them there too.

Also today I made some lace heart applique patches.
They could be turned into brooches or hair pins...
Stitched to a bag or jacket lapel...
Or made into greetings cards...
Whatever you fancy really!

I've packaged them each with an original vintage photograph.

Festive Finery and Fairy Frocks!

I know its far too early in the year to be thinking of Christmas, but with only three months left to go at my shop, (I'll be closing before Christmas) I thought I may be able to get away with just a small display hidden in one corner?!
It did make me feel a little uncomfortable, particularly as school children are still at home for the summer - I don't normally introduce my festive stock until the end of October...But then there are those who like to plan ahead or spread the cost, so hopefully I'll get away with it...?

It meant moving other stock around to make space - the antique bottles now take up two shelves. I've been repurposing some of the smaller ones this week, and will show the result of my efforts in a future post.
Antique books and tins span a long shelf on the opposite side of the shop.
I've been using some old book pages again in some (more!) card making...

I just love the words in the Beatrix Potter story books :)
I've used short sections of them to compliment the little antique lace dresses that decorate the latest batch of cards.

Wishing you a happy weekend,
Niki x

Rose Love

Been making lots of bits and bobs this week from pretty rose printed vintage fabrics...
Pin cushion.
Peg Bags...had a run on these as a local lady has been buying one per week as Christmas pressies for all her friends - Thinking ahead!

Decorated antique bottle.

Handmade greetings cards...

And a little rose patchwork bag.

(The back)
Lots more planned for tomorrow when I'm back at the shop again.

Say 'Cheese'!

As the count-down to my shop's closure continues, I've been going through some of the stock that's hung around for a while and have been thinking of ways to repurpose some of the items. (Always something I've done to keep things looking fresh and to try to encourage more sales.)
Today it was the turn of the antique photo drawer, where some of the scary Victorian ladies have lived for a while...
I thought I'd cheer them up with pretty floral hats made from vintage fabric cutouts...
Which I then turned into greetings cards.

:)
Have a lovely BH weekend,
Niki x
